The day after a four-alarm fire ripped through a Mount Vernon apartment building, tenants came home to see if they could salvage any of their belongings.
Fire officials say flames were blowing out of the third story of the South Third Avenue building and quickly spread to the fourth and fifth floors. A tenant on the second floor was pleased to find her apartment intact. Others were not so fortunate, so the Red Cross handed out vouchers to clothing and food stores.
Tenants are grateful no one was injured in the fire. Officials are investigating the cause of the fire.
