Mount Vernon residents have been granted an extension for the Property Tax Amnesty Program.

The program for one-, two-, and three-family households will now run until June 10. It was originally set to conclude on Feb. 1.

To qualify, properties must be listed as legal residences within the city tax assessment system, with the legal owner currently residing in the home. Additionally, all school property taxes, interest, and penalties for the years 2017 through 2023 must be settled.

Residents can verify their eligibility by contacting the Department of Finance. It's essential to note that the program solely addresses interest owed on city and county taxes, excluding school taxes.
