Mount Vernon dedicated the Council Committee Room at City Hall in memory of Westchester Democratic Leader Reginald LaFayette.
LaFayette became the party's county chairman from 2004 to 2020 when he dropped out of the race for re-election.
“He helped so many people and he never took credit for it. That's one thing that he taught me. When you help somebody just forget about it. Because that's what you're supposed to do if you're in a position to do it. And that was one of his greatest qualities," says City Council member Lisa Copeland.
LaFayette served many years as Democratic commissioner of the Westchester County Board of Elections, as well as chairman of Mount Vernon's Democratic Committee.
LaFayette passed away a year ago.
