Hundreds of Mount Vernon residents may soon have new jobs as a result of the city's job fair.
It was the first initiative under the recently launched Mount Vernon WORKS program, which boosts the economy by connecting local job seekers with community employers.
A line stretched out of Grace Baptist Church as hundreds of people were interviewing for jobs with salaries ranging from $35,000 to $100,000 a year.
Mount Vernon resident Bequine Renee Clark was among the many who were hired on the spot.
She starts next month as a housing specialist helping people find a place to live.
"It's my passion you know, I enjoy helping others. So, I am in my element right now. I'm excited, " she says.
Don't worry if you missed today's opportunity - the city's WORKS initiative is planning to hold future career events to help raise the community.
