A motorcyclist was seriously injured Thursday following a crash with an SUV in Ossining along Route 9A near Stormytown Road.

Ossining police officers say the motorcyclist was heading south and the SUV was taking a left on Stormytown Road. The motorcycle collided into the passenger side door.

Police say two onlookers who work in the medical field began performing CPR on the motorcyclist, who was eventually taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Nobody in the SUV was injured.

It is still unclear what caused the crash. However, the intersection where it happened is a dangerous one, according to Ossining police. Officers tell News 12 there are frequent accidents there.

Many drivers say they want to see changes at the intersection to make it safer, such as adding a traffic light.

"It's always backed up all the time. If you get an opening, it's like a mad dash to get across. There is a lot of traffic," says Bob Rosenthal who works near where the accident happened.

"It's very dangerous, people be speeding through there and it's not good," says Ossining resident Victor Garcia.

Route 9A was closed between Croton and Route 134 for hours but reopened Thursday night.
