A frightening scene unfolded Saturday morning in the Village of Mamaroneck when a mother and her two children were hit by a car while crossing the street.

According to Mamaroneck police, none of the three suffered serious injuries. Authorities say the driver remained at the scene and was issued a summons for failing to yield to pedestrians in a crosswalk.

The crash has renewed safety concerns among nearby business owners, who say changes are needed to make the intersection safer for families.

“I saw the little girl crossing the street with the mommy…the little girl flew. Mommy was on the floor already. It’s terrible,” said eyewitness Nancy Barilas.

Police say the mother and her children were taken to the hospital as a precaution.
