Heartbroken Orange County mother Melissa Hadden is speaking publicly for the first time about her daughter’s disappearance. It comes just ahead of the young woman’s birthday this week.
Heather Callas, from Port Jervis, turns 28 years old on Saturday. The missing mother of five was last seen in June and reported missing by family in August.
“I love her, and I miss her so much. It hurts. It hurts bad." said Hadden.
Hadden says Callas has a history of drug use and at times has not reached out for a week or so, but never as long as this.
She issued a plea Wednesday for her daughter’s safe return.
“We are worried about you, and your kids tremendously miss you," said Hadden. "I love you, and I just want to make sure that you’re safe and you’re OK. All of us, because this is not like you.”
Callas is 5 feet, 3 inches tall, weighs 120 pounds and has hazel eyes and brown hair. She has tattoos of reindeer on both wrists.
Her mother says the young woman may have been last seen in Brooklyn.
News 12 has a call out to Port Jervis police for more information.
