While approximately 1,500 homes in Westchester woke up without power Thursday, most of the residents in Dobbs Ferry have power again.
The record-breaking power demands plunged much of the Hudson Valley into darkness. Residents were forced to sweat out the night without air conditioning and some say their food in the refrigerators spoiled.
Crews are working to restore power to the rest of the area. Con Ed officials are urging people to avoid using appliances and energy-intense machines. They are also asking residents to turn the AC to 78 degrees or higher to conserve energy.
