A surge of violence struck the South Side section of Yonkers as three separate shootings occurred within a span of 24 hours.
The most recent incident unfolded at the Palisades Towers apartment complex, and all three events took place during daylight hours. Here's a breakdown of the developments:
In the latest occurrence, law enforcement responded to the Palisades Towers housing complex on Schroeder Street at approximately 2 p.m. Tuesday. Upon arrival, officers discovered an individual outside the premises who had sustained two gunshot wounds, one in each leg. The victim was transported to a hospital, where medical personnel anticipate a full recovery.
Throughout the day, police remained engaged in conversations with residents and scrutinized footage from security cameras, signifying their concerted efforts to comprehensively investigate the matter.
This recent shooting transpired barely a day after a different incident, where an individual was shot in the leg at a residence on West Delano Avenue. This incident occurred around 2 p.m. on Monday afternoon.
Roughly an hour later, a series of gunshots were fired near the intersection of Riverdale Avenue and Morris Street, not far from the previous shooting location. No injuries were reported in this instance, and authorities held a person of interest in custody.
Law enforcement officials assert that none of these shooting incidents are interrelated, and furthermore, they affirm that the attacks were not random acts. Evidently, each event was intended to target specific individuals.
Detectives overseeing these cases are diligently prioritizing the investigation of all three incidents and say they may be close to making an arrest.
