More gunfire erupted Wednesday night in Peekskill, just hours after gunshots were heard in the middle of the day.
Peekskill police say the first shots rang out at Main Street and North Division. The second incident was just a few hours later at Main Street and Nelson Avenue.
Officials say the shootings do not appear to be connected.
In the first case near North Division, police say a man fired four shots at another man. The only things he hit were a passing car and a vacant storefront window. He's still on the loose, but police say they have good leads in the case.
Police say they have arrested Alonzo Heckstall, 19, of Peekskill, for the second shooting. They say he fired shots at a group of men with whom he had a dispute. No one was hurt. Police credit the community in helping them bring the suspect to justice.
Heckstall is facing reckless endangerment and weapons charges.
He's being held in Westchester County Jail on $250,000 bail.
