Yonkers Mayor-Elect Mike Spano is continuing his transition of power by making more changes at city hall.
Current Public Works Commissioner John Liszewski is changing jobs and will become the city's new commissioner of finance. Liszewski will go from being in charge of a $61 million budget to one that reaches close to $1 billion. Liszewski was hired by the city 24 years ago as a budget analyst. For the past 17 years, he has led the DPW through snowstorms and floods.
Spano also made two other decisions on Tuesday. To replace Liszewski, Spano appointed Thomas Meier, a retired colonel from the U.S. Army Reserves. He also said Carl Maniscalco, who has served as acting commissioner of finance at city hall for the past year, will be appointed budget commissioner.
