A Yonkers bakery is celebrating 50 years of sweet success.
A crowd gathered outside and a steady stream of customers lined up inside Anna Artuso's Pastry Shop, located on McLean Avenue, Thursday.
The bakery offered Italian ice treats for the throwback price of 50 cents and held a cake-eating contest to mark its 50th year.
Serving everything from cookies to cannoli, Anna Artuso opened the bakery in 1966. Her grandson, R.J. Puma, runs the shop today. He said he hopes to continue to have many prosperous days at the location, which he called a unique business hub.
Earlier on Thursday, Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano and City Council members joined Puma to celebrate the shop by unveiling the renaming of Martha Avenue to Anna Artuso and John Puma Memorial Way.
