A modern-day Amelia Earhart is about to follow in her namesake's flight plan, hopefully all the way around the world this time.

In 1937, aviator Amelia Earhart and navigator Fred Noonan disappeared over the Pacific Ocean while attempting to make the first around-the-world flight along the equator.

On Thursday, another Amelia Earhart, no relation to the original, plans to fly the same route. "As a pilot, we want to close our flight plan and Amelia never got to do that 77 years ago. She left that flight plan open; even though I'm not a relative, I'm truly inspired, I want to close that flight plan for her," says Earhart.
