A missing 12-year-old girl who ran away from a group home in Poughkeepsie is now back safe, according to her mother.

Jennifer Howard pleaded in a News 12 report last week for the public to help find Miamor Rivera.

Howard says the girl returned on her own to the children’s home of Poughkeepsie Sunday afternoon after seeing an online podcast with a nonprofit that helps find missing people in the Hudson Valley, Hope Alive 845, about the girl’s disappearance.

“She’s back,” says Howard. “Thank you, Lord!”

Rivera was missing for two weeks, and Town of Poughkeepsie police were leading the search for her.

Howard says she voluntarily placed Rivera in the care of Schenectady Child Protective Services, who placed her at the group home in Poughkeepsie in January, to help after the girl ran away from home multiple times before.

Howard says her daughter is OK and that she’s traveling Monday to Dutchess County from Schenectady to visit.
