Police in Montgomery arrested a 24-year-old man from New Haven, Connecticut Sunday who was allegedly responsible for the disappearance of a 15-year-old girl from the state.
Authorities say the missing girl was found in a wooded near Ridge Road in “good health” and reunited with family after being evaluated at the hospital.
The suspect, Marcos Menendez, was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and released on an appearance ticket.
Montgomery police say Connecticut State Police alerted them that the suspect’s phone was pinging in the area of routes 17K and 747, which led to the arrest. Authorities say the suspect was found alone on Maple Avenue and stated that he told the missing teen to run.
The underage girl was found after a brief search with the help of neighboring police departments, state police, a police canine and drone.
The circumstances that led to the teen being reported missing are not immediately known.
