Mayor Mike Spano appears to have cemented another four years as the leader of New York's third-largest city.
Spano was able to seek a fourth term after the City Council voted to extend term limits.
He won the Democratic primary with nearly 70% of the vote, and it appears voters like what he’s done over the last 12 years.
While the official count is still underway, it appears he’s beaten his Republican Councilman Anthony Merante and Working Families Party candidate Allison Abramson.
Spano ran this campaign on a list of his accomplishments, which include improving graduation rates, bringing in development, new construction of housing containing 10% affordable apartments, a major revitalization at the waterfront and being named the "Hollywood on the Hudson" because of the studios that now operate there.
He says the there's a lot of work left to do in the next four years.
Spano says he's going to focus on making Yonkers a place other cities in the state and country will want to model.
