The Enlarged City School District of Middletown announced Saturday that grief counseling resources will be available all weekend in the aftermath of a ninth-grade student's death.

Superintendent of Schools Amy Creeden released a statement Saturday afternoon and reminded students that while emotions may be difficult to process, there is strength in the community's shared bonds.

School officials say the high school will be staffed with mental health professionals to provide counseling services for anyone who seeks help.

School officials also say they set up a dedicated call line with support about school operations and resources.

The district postponed Saturday night's homecoming dance because of the student's death.

It was not immediately clear how the student died or their identity as of Saturday night.
