Over 44,000 people witnessed soccer legend Lionel Messi play at Yankee Stadium for Inter Miami on Saturday vs. NYC FC.
This was Messi's first time in the Bronx ever. Inter Miami played at Yankee Stadium earlier in the season, but Messi didn't attend due to an injury.
Fans from far and wide attended the game. Most fans told News 12 that they were there to watch the legend play.
"I'm very excited, especially to see Messi. Having him come to New York City is a dream come true," said Niccolo, a fan from New York.
For some fans, this was their first-ever soccer game.
"It was a cool experience for the kids to see Messi play. It's probably the last time they'll have a chance to see him," said proud parent, Peter.
NYC FC and Inter Miami CF faced off in a tight match. While Messi didn't score, he did assist on Miami’s only goal.
The game finished in a 1-1 draw.
