Mourners gather for vigil in Mount Vernon in wake of fatal stabbing
Mourners in Mount Vernon
are still trying to come to grips with the killing of Kayla Green – the 16-year-old fatally stabbed last week who had dreams of becoming a
nurse.

Friends and loved
ones gathered for a vigil Sunday night to remember her.
The teen lost her
life on Friday, April 8 during a fight that left another teen severely injured
with stab wounds.
The tragedy punctuated
a day of celebration for the Mount Vernon High School varsity basketball team's
state championship win.
A 15-year-old from Mount
Vernon is in police custody, charged with manslaughter and other felonies.
