287ds agoOver 100 people in the Rockland County community turned out Thursday for a memorial celebrating the life and legacy of Paul Piperato.
Piperato was a lifelong resident of Rockland County and served as the deputy and county clerk for 30 years when he suddenly died last spring.
Piperato was well-known and loved in Rockland County, but the memorial service was postponed to this year because of the pandemic.
"Paul was a giver, and people are giving back right now. They're here simply to pay their respects," said Rockland County Executive Ed Day.
Rockland lawmakers introduced legislation to rename a portion of Route 304 to the Rockland County Clerk Paul Piperato Memorial Highway.
