Mayor: Yonkers denied FEMA funding for Hurricane Ida repairs

Yonkers will not receive more than $5 million in federal funding it had hoped to obtain from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to repair damage caused by Hurricane Ida, Mayor Mike Spano announced.

The city was denied the funding despite President Joe Biden's declaration of a major disaster in the wake of the storm.

Spano expressed disappointment and concern over FEMA's decision, stating that the agency's inaction jeopardizes the future of Yonkers.
