Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano is questioning the tactics of the Yonkers Federation of Teachers union after the release of a controversial video by a conservative journalist.
Journalist James O'Keefe went undercover and posed as a teacher, suggesting to officials that he used racial slurs and assaulted a student.
He then released the 17-minute video of the conversations he had with union officials.
"If this is standard operating procedure, then you know what? Things damn well need to change," says Spano.
YFT President Pat Puleo also appears in the video as the fake teacher says he took an unapproved trip to Mexico.
Spano has not yet called for her resignation.
News 12 spoke with Puleo, who said she believed that O'Keefe was a teacher in crisis when he came to her office. She denies that she told him to lie, but instead counseled him to speak with his principal.
