New Rochelle Mayor Noam Bramson says he welcomes an emergency operations center that the state set up locally for the coronavirus.
"New Rochelle unfortunately is the epicenter of coronavirus in New York state, so it makes sense to make the staging area here, which could help accelerate and make more efficient the process of testing and monitoring,” Bramson says.
The state of emergency declared over the virus this weekend by Gov. Andrew Cuomo should make it easier to get cleaning supplies and hand sanitizer. It also allows doctors and nurses to test for the virus, and get easier access to testing supplies and equipment.
"It does trigger additional state authority to direct staffing and resources where needed,” says Bramson.
Bramson urges everyone to go about their normal routines, but take extra precautions by washing hands and being careful when coughing. He says those showing symptoms should call a doctor before showing up at a hospital.
