Health experts are working to address the issue of who should be wearing face masks during the coronavirus pandemic.
The Westchester County Health Department says wearing a mask will not necessarily keep people safe.
County Health Commissioner Dr. Sherlita Amler says she does not want to give people a false sense of security by telling them to wear masks.
Amler says she gets her guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which for now is saying wearing a mask if you're not sick does not help. She says washing your hands is still as important as ever.
Some people who wear the masks say it gives them a little peace of mind and that they will continue to wear them.
