Marist poll: Gov. Hochul has 49% approval rating

A new poll from Marist College finds that Gov. Kathy Hochul would easily win in the primary race for governor if it were held today.
It's been 50 days since Hochul became governor and she already says she will run for a full term.
Now according to this statewide poll, 49% of New Yorkers approve of her with 31% disapproving and 20% unsure.
Cuomo resigned about two months ago and his team insists he has no intention of running again.
Dr. Lee Miringoff, who conducted the poll, says they initially weren't going to include Cuomo in their survey, but they did in the wake of an email he sent out to supporters last week.
"Former Gov. Cuomo did put out a lengthy statement to his supporters, which basically spoke about all his accomplishments as governor in an attempt to put his own spin on the circumstances under which led to his resignation, and also talking about his commitment to the state going forward," Miringoff says.
If Cuomo were to run, the poll finds Hochul would still dominate with 36% of the vote versus a hypothetical 24% for New York Attorney General Letitia James, 19% for Cuomo, and 9% for New York City Public Advocate Jumaane Williams.
