Family and friends attended funeral services Friday to Pomona native Marine Sgt. Owen Lennon – one of 16 members of the armed forces that died in a military plane crash in Mississippi.
Marine Sgt. Lennon, 26, served in Afghanistan and was named Marine of the Year in 2013.
As his funeral Mass came to an end, Marine pallbearers could be seen placing his casket back into the hearse. The procession left with bagpipes playing "America the Beautiful."
Mourners lined the streets during the 33-mile trip to Goshen where he was laid to rest at Orange County Veteran's Memorial Cemetery with full military honors.
He is survived by his parents, two sisters and his fiancé.
