A man who served 23 years in prison for a Putnam County murder filed a federal civil rights lawsuit.
Andrew Krivak was charged in the 1994 rape and murder of 12-year-old Josette Wright, whose remains were found in Patterson.
He was acquitted in a retrial last February.
The lawsuit names Putnam County, the District Attorney's Office and several individuals.
Among other things, the lawsuit alleges the defendants did not conduct an adequate investigation by following multiple leads that would have led them to the true perpetrator.
They also allege the DA's office suppressed favorable evidence and attempted to intimidate witnesses to provide false information. Both the county and DA's office had no comment.
Co-defendant Anthony Dipippo served 19 years in prison before being acquitted after a third trial.
