An off-duty NYPD sergeant shot and killed a man who stabbed another officer outside a Yonkers bar Wednesday.
Yonkers Police Commissioner Robert Taggart says three officers who had finished their shift were coming to the aid of the bartender who asked 20-year-old Peter Lee, of Yonkers, and another man to leave Rory Dolan?s Irish Pub around 3 a.m. Police say officer John Baumeister was stabbed three to five times by Lee just outside of the bar. Sergeant Michael Ingram then fired twice at Lee.
Police say Lee, who was under the legal age, was drinking at the bar and had an arrest record for felonious assault against police officers. Baumeister is in fair condition at Jacobi Medical Center. The NYPD and Westchester District Attorney?s office are also investigating the incident.
