Man says he's lucky to be alive after robbery, carjacking in Fishkill
The victim of a Dutchess County carjacking says he is lucky to be alive after the terrifying encounter he endured Wednesday morning.
Mario Ramirez says he was walking into his home on Main Street in Fishkill Wednesday morning when a pair of men approached him, demanding his things.
"When I was fighting with both of them, I started screaming. And when I was screaming, another guy came with a gun," he said. "He point with his gun to my head and he told me, 'If you don't stop screaming, I'm going to shoot you.'"
Ramirez says the men took his wallet and his car while he ran into the woods to call police, fearing for his life.
More than a dozen state police then spent hours investigating, combing for evidence and gathering surveillance.
State police are not providing any additional details about the incident.
