A man was fatally shot Thursday morning in Mount Vernon.
Officials say it happened around 10 a.m. on South Eighth Avenue.
Police haven't released much information, but News 12 has learned that the victim is between 20 and 25 years old and lived in the neighborhood.
He was shot outside a house, then rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
There are no known motives so far, and it is not clear if police have identified any suspects.
News 12 talked a woman named Summer Foste who did not want her face to be on camera, but says she heard the gunshots and came out and watched her son's friend - a young man she knew as Anthony - die before her eyes.
Neighbors are calling on the police department to patrol the neighborhood more often to help bring an end to the senseless violence.
