A shooting overnight has left one man dead on Grand Concourse in the Bronx just as new efforts to put an end to violence go into effect.
Police responded to a call on 1770 Grand Concourse around 1 a.m. Police say a 21-year-old man was found shot in the torso. He was transported to treatment at a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The shooting comes less than 24 hours after the mayor launched a new NYPD Anti-Gun Unit.
Mayor Eric Adams says the new NYPD Neighborhood Safety Teams will focus on 30 precincts, one of which is where this shooting happened.
The victim's name has not yet been released. Police say the investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made.
