Authorities say an Ossining man in his early twenties drowned Monday after going for a swim in the Croton River and disappearing.
More than 50 Yorktown and Croton divers, police officers and firefighters searched for the victim after he was reported missing at around 5 p.m. Police say the section of the river where the victim and another man were swimming is restricted.
The victim's friend noticed he didn't surface and ran to a nearby home to call police. The man's body was discovered at around 8 p.m.
The victim's identity has not been released.
