Mount Vernon police are investigating after a man died after being shot six times while walking down the street.
Police say 20-year-old Reginald Rogers was walking near Union Avenue and East Fourth Street around 9 p.m. Tuesday when shot rang out. Police were on patrol a block away when the shooting occurred. Rogers was rushed to the hospital where he later died of his injuries.
According to police, a 21-year-old man was shot near South Fulton Avenue Friday. His wounds were not life threatening. Sunday morning, four men were stabbed after fights broke out at Dazzles Restaurant Lounge.
Investigators say while this latest shooting is not connected to the other two incidents, the string of violence is extremely troubling. ?We are suffering the wrath of young people taking care of their problems in a violent manner,? Mount Vernon Police Commissioner David Chong said.
