Police have arrested a man accused of scamming a 90-year-old Harrison woman out of $23,000 by telling her that her granddaughter was in trouble.
Enoch Sarkodie, of Marietta, Georgia, was arraigned in a Harrison courthouse Tuesday.
The 29-year-old is charged with grand larceny after police he called the woman pretending to be her granddaughter's lawyer.
Investigators say he even used a female accomplice to impersonate that granddaughter, who convinced the elderly woman that she needed the money following a terrible car accident.
The suspect is being held on $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond.
