A man is accused of lighting a flock camera on fire in Dutchess County, according to the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office.
Police say 26-year-old John K. Coleman allegedly set the camera ablaze on Saturday night in Rhinebeck, which they say sparked a nearby brush fire.
New York State Police and Dutchess County officers responded to the burning brush and to reports of a damaged Flock camera at around 11:50 p.m. near 6052 Route 9.
After crews extinguished the fire, investigators say they linked Coleman, of Rhinebeck, to the alleged arson.
Police say they took Coleman into custody early Sunday morning.
He is charged with third-degree criminal mischief and fifth-degree arson.
The sheriff’s office says Coleman was processed and released on desk-appearance tickets.
He is expected to appear in court on Nov. 5.
