A deadly crash on I-95 in Connecticut claimed the life of a Mamaroneck woman Saturday night.
State police say Emma Torres, 31, died on the southbound side of the roadway near exit 27 in Bridgeport when she stopped her car on the highway’s shoulder to check on her child in the backseat.
While outside of vehicle, Torres was sideswiped by another vehicle. She was taken to Bridgeport Hospital where she later died from her injuries.
Four other people were traveling in the vehicle with Torres, none of whom were injured.
The driver of the vehicle that struck Torres was a 19-year-old woman, who was also uninjured. It is unknown if she will face charges, as police say the incident is under investigation.
Mamaroneck Mayor Norm Rosenblum released a statement about the incident, offering prayers and condolences to Torres’ family.
