Mamaroneck K-9 officer credited for taking loaded handgun off the street

The driver, who is from New Rochelle, is now facing two weapons charges.

A K-9 officer in the Village of Mamaroneck is being recognized for taking a loaded handgun off the street.

Officer Colasacco, and his partner Ike,  pulled over a car on Mamaroneck Avenue.

The officer brought Ike over to sniff the car, and he indicated the presence of narcotics in the vehicle.

The driver then admitted to the officer that there was also a loaded firearm in the car.

The driver, who is from New Rochelle, is now facing two weapons charges.
