NEXT: Warm-up begins. Temperatures in the 40s Wednesday and Thursday, but temperatures reach the 50s by Friday with rain showers likely for the holiday weekend. 
Storm Watch Team Meteorologist Alex Calamia says temperatures will surge well above freezing through the end of the week. 
FORECAST:
TONIGHT: Partly cloudy. Seasonably cold. Lows around 23.
WEDNESDAY: Sun and some clouds. Feeling warmer with highs around 41 degrees. Lows near 28.
THURSDAY: Milder. Mainly sunny. with highs around 46 degrees. Lows around 33.
FRIDAY: Sun and clouds. Highs around 50. Lows around 38. 
SATURDAY - NEW YEARS EVE: WEATHER TO WATCH - Rain showers arrive in the afternoon and last through the overnight. Highs around 50 degrees. Upper-40s at midnight. Lows near 44.
SUNDAY - NEW YEARS DAY: WEATHER TO WATCH - A period of steady rain to start the day, likely tapering off into the afternoon. Highs around 53. Lows near 41.
