A new croissant and bakery shop in downtown Middletown is getting a lot of local buzz.
News 12 stopped by the shop, Mister Croissant, at 28 North St. Tuesday to check out the yummy-looking treats and talk to the award-winning owner, Rakesh Nayak.
The shop opened last month, and Nayak says they’re already selling out of their award-winning confections.
“We do high-end pastries and a good, quality croissant. We get all our ingredients from France,” says Nayak.
Nayak is from India and went to culinary school in France. He worked on cruise ships, luxury hotels and restaurants before moving to Middletown and opening the bakery. He won "Best Croissant" from the Food Network in 2020.
“You go to New York City, France, Boston and you get the best products. I wanted to bring this quality and a nice environment where people can come in and enjoy the best quality pastries,” says Nayak.
Nayak says their best-seller is his green-colored pistachio croissant.
“We can’t keep up with the demand,” Nayak says. “We’re hiring!”
More information about the shop can be found on its website.
