Glistening gold and sparkling silver jewelry pieces dazzle the walls inside Eduardo Accostupa Jewelry in White Plains, symbolizing the American dream of one man from Peru.

"We can fully customize any design you want," said Eduardo Accostupa, the owner of Eduardo Accostupa Jewelry. "We do upgrades [and] redesigning; we restore pieces. So, we pretty much create anything related to jewelry."

In addition to being the owner of the shop, Accostupa is also a designer and craftsman. His love of jewelry started when he was a young boy, and only expanded after first visiting the United States in the 1990s.

"When I was growing up back in Peru, I was always creative," he explained. "I was always artistic, hands-on... when I finished college in 2008, that's when I fully committed [to making jewelry]. I had to go back to Peru to learn the actual craft of making jewelry from scratch."

Accostupa opened his shop in White Plains nearly one year later, bringing in his family to help. The family affair helped him bring his Peruvian heritage to customers from all over the Hudson Valley.

"To be able to also work with my sister as my right-hand jeweler...[and] two of my mother's younger sisters...it's another piece of mine," he explained. "My daughter also works with me. She has her own collection. She's learning the business little by little."

Despite all the help from his family, however, it's Accostupa's clients that keep his dream alive every day.

"To be able to bring their vision to life…I think it's very satisfying," he said. "To be able to create one-of-a-kind pieces according to their ideas [and] their designs, I think that is what makes me happy and what gets me going every day."

Eduardo Accostupa Jewelry is located at 457 Tarrytown Road in White Plains.
