Low vaccination rates in Westchester prompt call for flu and COVID shots

Health experts are advising Westchester residents to get both flu and COVID‑19 vaccinations ahead of the holidays.

New York State reports that 3.1% of Westchester's population has received the COVID‑19 vaccine so far this year, while 7.9% have the flu shot.

Dr. Michael Palumbo, chief medical officer of White Plains Hospital, joined News 12 this morning and said adults should consider updated RSV or pneumonia vaccines based on age and health status. He also explained that childhood vaccines help protect the broader community by reducing disease spread and protecting those who cannot be vaccinated.
