A 48-year-old man was stabbed and killed outside a Brownsville apartment building Wednesday evening, and police say they are still trying to track down the other person involved in the fight.
Police have identified the victim as 48-year-old Kevin Coleman.
People who knew Coleman tell News 12 he was a kind person and a father of four.
His daughter, Shadiara Coleman, says she's still trying to wrap her head around it.
"Mad, I was real mad. Sad, angry, just confused mostly," said Coleman.
Coleman says while he made mistakes, he showed up as a father.
"I love him, and I forgive him," said Coleman.
People who knew Coleman tell News 12 he was a kind person and a father.
The incident happened just after 5:30 p.m. outside the Langston Hughes Houses on Sutter Avenue. According to a source with the NYPD, several 911 callers reported two men fighting and said at least one of them had a knife.
When officers arrived, they found 48-year-old Kevin Coleman lying on the ground in front of the building with multiple stab wounds.
Sources say Coleman was unconscious and still holding a knife in his hand when police reached him.
Coleman was taken to Brookdale Hospital, where he died a short time later.
A growing memorial with posters, photos and candles is at the location where Coleman was stabbed.
Tameel Marshall, who is a friend, stopped by to write messages.
"Loveable person, loved in the community, life of the party and you know he was a great Dad," said Marshall.
Sources say Coleman was uncooperative with the investigation before he died.
No arrests have been made, and investigators are still working to determine what led up to the deadly fight and who else may have been involved.
