The COVID-19 pandemic pushed back the wedding dates of many couples in the Hudson Valley, but one couple in Rye tied the knot Saturday in front of their friends and family on Zoom.
The ceremony for Julia Abad and Hank Meehan was held in the backyard of their apartment complex and couldn’t have gone more perfectly.
She is a nurse anesthetist working with COVID-19 patients at a New York City hospital. He works in executive management.
"Initially you want your friends and family there, but in this climate we're in right now, that's an unattainable situation. But we're happy with what we were able to do today," said Meehan.
Abad says she's happy their guests were able to share in the most important day of her life.
"We didn't plan for this,” she says. “We didn't expect our wedding day to turn out like this, but this was the safest way to do it. I couldn't be happier today."
“You just need the person you love and everything else will be OK," said Meehan.
