yesterdayPolice in New Rochelle stopped a possible mass shooting after foiling a local Buffalo Wild Wings employee's apparent plan to "commit a massacre" at the bar and restaurant over the weekend.
The woman was recently hired and called out sick the day she allegedly sent five people around the country the threatening texts.
Two of the people who received the messages, one from Albany and another near Dallas, Texas called New Rochelle police Saturday to report the concerning messages from an unknown number.
According to the messages, the woman said “lots of people are going down" and "don't take me as a joke...lots of people will die...don't call the store and ruin my plans."
Law enforcement tracked the number and IP address back to 21-year-old Jayleen Mota, according to the criminal complaint.
Police searched her Bronx apartment on Saturday night and found the phone she allegedly used to send the messages.
She was arrested on Sunday.
Federal investigators said she confessed to doing it, although a motive was not released. She's facing one count of making threatening interstate communications, which carries up to five years in federal prison.
