The owner of a famous Bronx Latin music establishment is getting a street named after him.
Prospect Avenue is now Miguel A. (Mike) Amadeo Way, after the famous musician who has owned the Casa Amadeo Latin music store since 1969. Amadeo is also a famous composer.
His first acclaimed song, "Cruel Disillusion," was recorded back in 1954. Since then he's written more than 200 songs, which have been sung by the likes of Hector Lavos, Celia Cruz, Danny Rivera and El Grando Combo de Puerto Rico.
Amadeo is also beloved in the Bronx community as a philanthropist and friend to hundreds, which is why so many came out to Longwood today to celebrate.
The celebration also included plenty of musical performances in Amadeo's honor.
