News 12 has learned that longtime Democratic White Plains Mayor Tom Roach has decided not to run for reelection.

In an exclusive interview with our senior reporter Tara Rosenblum, Mayor Roach says he decided to seek higher office - and launch a campaign for Westchester county clerk.

The current county clerk Tim Idoni is not seeking another term.

Roach became acting mayor in 2011, and is currently serving in his third full term in office.

Former Councilwoman Nadine Hunt Robinson is in the running to replace Roach.

Councilman Justin Brash told Rosenblum that he will formally launch his campaign on Wednesday.
