Long Island legislator calls for ban of concealed carry handguns in Nassau

292ds agoNassau Legislator Josh Lafazan, who is running for Congress, is calling for new measures to ban the concealed carry of handguns on all county properties.
This new measure includes parks and beaches, NICE buses, and the campus of Nassau Community College.
The push follows Thursday’s major Supreme Court decision that struck down New York’s concealed carry law that requires handgun owners to prove they have a need to carry a concealed weapon.
Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone also announced Saturday a plan he says will strengthen Suffolk’s red flag laws, which allows authorities to take away guns from those who are deemed to be a threat to themselves or others.
Bellone wants the state to expand the scope of the state’s red flag law, increase education and increase monitoring on social media.
