Some stranded drivers have been rescued from flooded roads following a storm that dropped over 12 inches of rain on Long Island.
Islip got an entire summer's worth of rain in one night. The National Weather Service says that a normal total for June, July and August is 11.75 inches in the town.
News 12 Meterologist Rich Hoffman says over five inches of rain fell between 5 a.m. and 6 a.m. alone.
The Southern State Parkway was closed around Baldwin and about 20 miles east in Deer Park, where cars were stuck in a couple of feet of water.
