A tragic accident in the Town of Montgomery left a man severely injured.
According to police, a man was operating a log splitter when the machine became jammed. In an attempt to clear the jam, the machine unexpectedly activated, resulting in the severing of the man's hand at the wrist.
First responders were called to Albany Post Road Friday night around 6:30 p.m.
The man was treated on the scene by paramedics before being airlifted to Westchester Medical Center for further specialized care.
Montgomery police plan to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
