School officials in Eastchester placed the district on lockout Wednesday after police received a call that an armed, possibly suicidal man could be on the loose in the area.
At around 1 p.m., police say they responded to an apartment complex at 485 White Plains Road -- just down the street from Eastchester's middle and high schools.
Investigators say that the man was not at home at the time. They say he was at work in Rye Brook.
Subsequently, police lifted the lockout, but officials say they don't think the call was a hoax.
Officials say the man was taken to a hospital for treatment after investigators in Rye Brook made contact with him.
